Eventscapade: #TUSHalloween Party

TUS HALLOWEEN PARTY

The crew hosted the annual Halloween party but with TUS being the main attraction, not ISAW. It's amazing how creative my friends are. From one small idea to what is now the beginning of an empire, TUS is definitely one of the brands to watch out for.

But what is TUS, exactly? Originally,  it's a filipino term that means getting caught or being extra careful from being caught doing illegal things or immoral actions. For example "Pare. dun tayo sa kanto mag smoke para di Tus" (Dude, let's smoke at the corner so that it's not Tus".

So what is TUS Clothing Co.? It's a lifestyle that voices Ultimate Freedom. The freedom to think beyond what is being thought. It is an extension of who you are, humanity, Freedom, and good vibrations.

The #TUSHalloween party also served as the brand's launch. Almost everyone was in costume and, well, everyone was TUS. With free flowing alcohol, amazing music from Logiclub, and merchandise being sold here and there, no wonder all of the guests left happy.

I was lucky enough to be one of the photographers that night. Knowing my quirky self, I did not hesitate to go all-out with my costume. I contacted my tita and well known designer, Badj Galias-Genato and asked her to make me a Harley Quinn costume. I chose the Harley outfit from Batman: Arkham City. *nerd*

Move over, Mister J! Harley's got new boys takin over!

OKay this photo may make you think "eh bat ang konti naman ng tao?" (But theres not much people). NOTE: This was taken when I arrived at the party, which was at 10AM. There was an estimated 300+ people who arrived at the party. AND THIS IS A HOUSE PARTY.

My highschool friends (barkada even) and now members of She's Only Sixteen. Roberto Sena (top) and Anjo Silvoza (bottom).

One of my favorite brothers in the entire world, Chaddy (who, by the way, s so corny because he didn't come in costume).

The Hashtag Revolution

I don't care if #MancrushMondays blue, #TransformationTuesdays grey and #WomancrushWednesdays too. #ThrowbackThursdays, I don't care 'bout you. It's #FlashbackFridays, I'm in love! If those days of the week seem familiar to you, then, congratulations! You are officially a member of the #HashtagRevolution.

From what was originally meant to timeline an event on your social network, it has become the movement of Generation Z. Many flock to their smartphones to post updates on their lives, thoughts, and ideas. Even the mighty Apple Industry has caught wind of the hashtag, joining the infamous twitter bandwagon. That of which resulted to the #iPhoneOnly culture on Twitter, Instagram, and the like.

They aren't just metadata tags to categorize posts on social networking sites, they are also social bucket lists that many enjoy following. #100HappyDays is the perfect example of it. To post a 100 photos of your life in a hundred days consecutively, who would have thought that anybody had the time to go through with it?

The #HashtagRevolution is so powerful, that it has already brought together an actual revolution. In the 2009-2010 Iranian election,  millions of twitter users rallied up against the the debatable victory of Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with the use of the hashtag. The likelihood of a candidate with a catchy hashtag winning an election is far more greater than one who isn't campaigned online.

How far will this culture go? Should we be expecting #JejeJanuary -s or #OksLangOctober-s anytime soon? Or will it just die out like any other fad? With this fast paced, fast growing culture of octothorpes, it might just last forever.
